19161835i had no idea what to expect when i checked this book out. i was getting ready to head out on vacation and thought it sounded like a book i could definitely read on a beach with a slushy drink in my hand.

i was not prepared for this book. not one bit. this book was all consuming. i love the premise of this book. one main event described by several of the key or not so key players. though each of the characters were talking about the same series of events their stories were different. the things they cared about, their upbringings, their roles – everything was different.

minato does a fantastic job of making sure you become invested in her characters. you empathize with them, feel their pain and their rage.

read this book. read all the words. the end will leave you reeling. i definitely give this one a 5/5 and look forward to reading more of kanae minato’s work.
